About Me

I spent more than forty years as a lawyer, primarily focused on assisting clients develop innovative financing techniques and products.  Unbarred represents part of a turn to my long-held love of writing.

Stepping back from the full-time practice of law—the “unbarred” of the title of this blog– has allowed me to further explore and write about my passions for books, music, food and cooking, travel, wine, and art in its various forms, as well as to consider and comment on legal and social issues.  My writing has been published in Literary Hub, Salon, and the Weekly Atticus. I am currently a reader of creative non-fiction submissions for the Atticus Review.

I received a M.F.A. degree in creative non-fiction from the University of King’s College in May 2019.

I live in New York City with my wife, a journalist and documentary filmmaker, and our three children.
